Transportation To Kinabalu Park, Kundasang, Ranau

Posted on Mar 11, 2009 under Tips | No Comment

I always promote the magnificent Mount Kinabalu and its breathtaking scenery to those who visited Sabah or even to our local folks here but I never specify in details (in case people don’t know) on how to reach this wonderful place. There are several alternatives to reach this region and it’s up to your preferences.

By Car
Drive your own car (or rented car). Don’t forget to fill-up your gas and the most important thing is, make sure that the vehicle is in good condition. Equip yourself with a map which you can get it free from the Tourist Information Centre (Sabah Tourism or Tourism Malaysia). Drive approx. 36 km from Kota Kinabalu (KK) to Tamparuli Roundabout. From Tamparuli Roundabout, take the 12 o’clock direction and drive another 52 km mountainous route to arrive Kinabalu Park. You will get to Kundasang Township if you keep on driving another 6 km from Kinabalu Park. Ranau Town is 15 km away from Kundasang Township.

By Bus or Taxi
The Bus and taxi terminal is located at Padang Bandaran, Jalan Padang or next to the King Park Hotel. In front of the bus and taxi terminal are Kota Kinabalu City Centre Hall, State Library, Cinema and many other concrete buildings.

Travel Operator
If you are attached with any travel operator, you don’t have to worry with your route. All you have to do is tell them your desire and they will tailor make you wishes. You just have to pay their fees and enjoy the whole trip.

Note: Tourism Malaysia is located at Api-api Centre, Kota Kinabalu next to the Centre Point Shopping Complex. Meanwhile, Sabah Tourism Board is at Gaya Street, Kota Kinabalu. Visit these offices to get more attractive info about Sabah, The Land Below The Wind.

The Cheapest Vacation In Sabah

Posted on Feb 13, 2009 under Tips | No Comment

“I’d like to visit Sabah with my family for a few days but it might cost me a huge amount of money. Or maybe I just stick to the ordinary domestic vacation or else travel to the nearest town and introduce several new places to my kids? Oh dear…I wonder which one is the best for my much-loved family”.

Do you encounter the same scenario when planning your yearly family vacation? I’m sure when it comes to involve money and vacation; people tend to plan wisely. Well, you know what? You can actually give the best to your family without carving hardly your saving!

I’m not sure how to explain it here, and I’m not sure whether you’ll like it or not but I need to emphasize here that it will not suitable to all persons. You may have to ask yourself as the planner of the vacation whether your group can cope with the package you are about to prepare for them.

I prefer to name this practice as “Travel By Yourself In Sabah”. The itinerary and method of traveling will be similar to DIY (Do-It-Yourself) vacation plan. Below are the very general outlines of the above practice for you to imagine the outcome:

1. Identify your family or group members
2. Classify what and where are the places you want to visit
3. Discover the mode of transportation
4. Identify the cheapest and reasonable accommodation
5. List down your proposed activities.
6. Find out the air tickets special rates

The above processes may look simple but it requires time as well as effort in order to ensure the smooth, well planned, inexpensive and memorable vacation.

Vacation In Sabah

Posted on Feb 09, 2009 under Tips | 1 Comment

1 week of vacation in Sabah would be a fantastic escape and of course it requires the best resolution or arrangement on how to plan on it. To be honest, you would need to really jot down something on paper for planning purposes.

The first thing you’ll need to decide is, what kind of vacation do you prefer? Some people might want an adventure vacation; some couple might choose a romantic vacation. Some might want to experience the city pleasure and shop our local or imported products. Or perhaps you want to combine the said characters into a fabulous vacation, who knows? It is wise to decide earlier in order to get the efficient, effective and most importantly a meaningful and memorable vacation.

Secondly, you might want to pick out the suitable place or region to visit and might as well determine the available or appropriate activities that you could perform in one particular area. At the same time, don’t forget to check out the accommodation rates and available facilities.

Last but not least, you need to make a decision on the types of transportation while staying in Sabah. You have various options, either you drive yourself by renting a car, or commute by public transports such as taxi or bus. Or appoint a tour agency to plan your trip but this will cost you more.

Kindly refer to my previous post on the subject of “Interesting Places in Sabah” and to the other related posts. Who knows it might give you some ideas on planning your next vacation in Sabah. Happy planning!

School Holiday!

Posted on Nov 08, 2008 under Tips | No Comment

Yahoo…. It’s school holidays! I repeat, it’s school holidays! Oops… why am I so excited? Hello… are you okay? How old are you? Are you a teacher or a student? Nope, neither of them.

Confuse? Relax. I’m just over excited. Why? Because during school holidays, normally we will travel and visit our local popular tourist destination especially throughout weekend. Apart from that, some people or families try to organize certain picnic or outdoor activities with their beloved family. Wow, I love family values.

Alright, just to let you know that next week would be our school term break (for Sabah as well as Malaysia). Thus, I would have to warn you that during this period all accommodations, hotels or air ticket will hike up their rates. Normal huh? Right..

So, plan your vacation wisely. You could come during our school holidays but of course you need to book the trip or accommodation in advance. Happy holidays!
