Seven (7) Days In Sabah With My Own Plan

Posted on Aug 02, 2008 under Itinerary, Tourist Attraction, Vacation | No Comment

Yesterday, I came across with one interesting topic on the internet forum. This fellow friend said, he’ll be coming to Kota Kinabalu (KK), Sabah for 1 week vacation. Wow, that’s cool.. i’m proud of your decision man! Then, this was my response to his topic which I’d like to share with you today:

There are so many activities that you could perform while staying in KK. Perhaps you could consider to travel to some of the nearest local popular destinations (from KK). This just a suggestion from me..

Day 1 – Visit Kudat District. Go to the beautiful Tip Of Borneo. It’s about 2-3 hours drive from KK. Along the way, you could also drop by to the Rungus Longhouse (you could even stay a night at the Rungus Longhouse and experience the authenticity of the Kudat’s culture), visit the Gong Making and the Honey Bee Farm as well.

Day 2 – Today, explore the Kota Kinabalu City. Go for the KK City Tour and KK Heritage Walk (check out this site for further details) http://www.kkheritagewalk.com/ or you could even travel by yourself. Just get the info or relevant brochures from the Tourist Information Centre and ask for their direction.

Day 3 – Visit Penampang District and search for Monsopiad Cultural Village or also known as the House Of Skulls. It’s only about 12km from KK. Check out this website http://www.monsopiad.com/ for details. Here you could taste the genuineness of the Sabahans traditional food and beverage.

Day 4 and 5 – I have to recommend you to visit the majestic Mount Kinabalu which is located in the District of Ranau, approx. 2 hours drive from KK. Visit the National Park (the entrance gate for the mount climbers), Kundasang War Memorial Park (the memorial site for the infamous death march during World War II), and don’t forget to visit Poring Hot Spring which is about 40 minutes drive from National Park.

Day 6 – Heading back to KK from Poring Hot Spring. Today, you might want to visit the Tunku Abdul Rahman’s Park. There are 5 islands, but only choose 1 of them (Gaya, Sapi,Manukan, Mamutik and Sulug Island) because you wouldn’t have enough time to visit all. Just go to the Jesselton Point and buy your ferry ticket.

Day 7 – I’m not sure what time is your flight, but if you want to go for a quick visit, my suggestion would be the Sabah State Museum which located in front of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, approx. 3-5km from KK City Centre.

There are still plenty of interesting areas that you could visit while in Sabah. All the places stated above are in the west coast of Sabah’s region. Anyway, don’t worry; you still can visit the other places in your next visit. Enjoy your trip and God bless…
